Workshop at Universidad de Caldas in Manizales - Colombia

We had an important event at Universidad de Caldas in Manizales - Colombia to promote our CRC Platform with a group of students of the Master Program in Social Justice and Peace Building. We were invited by Professor Alba Lucía Rengifo who is also an intern of Lund University. We are strengthening relations to support our purpose of defending and diseminating the Children Rights in the country. I want to thank especially to our Mentor Anneli Holmgren who contacted us and lent a hand to develop the workshop about The Child.

Tuvimos un evento muy importante en la Universidad de Caldas en Manizales - Colombia con un grupo de estudiantes del Programa de Maestría en Justicia Social y Construcción de Paz. Fuimos invitados por la Maestra Alba Lucía Rengifo quien es también becaria de la Universidad de Lund. Estamos estrechando relaciones para alcanzar nuestro propósito de defender y difundir los Derechos de los Niños/as. Quiero agradecer especialmente a nuestra Mentora Anneli Holmgren quien nos contactó y nos ayudó en el desarrollo del taller sobre El Niño/a.

CRC Awareness workshop - Sri Lanka

A one-day seminar was organized by the Sri Lanka CRC Network for Prefects of   Dehiaththakandiya central collage. This was the objective of making aware the students about the rights of children and to protect children's rights through them. This work was done with practical activities, and the students very much liked it.

 

National Arts Council Members revealed - including Change Agent Martha! - Namibia


WINDHOEK – JUNE, 4 – The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (NACN) announced the appointment of new members recently.

Minister Katrina, Hanse-Himarwa singled out new members who will serve for a three year term administering the National Arts Fund, effective from 01 April 2019 to 31st March 2022.

The new Council is comprised of various public and private representatives who went through an induction on 17 May 2019 at the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (MOEAC) offices.

It includes public nominees and former Council members Patrick Sam, a consultant and arts advocate and Shareen Thude, Manager of the Craft Center, who retained their positions of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively, as well as representatives of the MOEAC, Sanet Steenkamp, Executive Director and Ervast Mtota, Director of Arts.

Furthermore, the new publicly nominated members will be filled by Dalicia Olivier who is responsible of Stakeholders and events and Meatco, Leitago /Narib, Entrepreneur and Owner of NAWALife. The alternate members are Petsy Neiss from the International University of Management, Ambrosius Sindano a School Principal from Nkurenkuru and Martha Amutenya, a Teacher from Ondangwa, Felix Haingura Youth representative and Veno Kauaria, Deputy Executive Director Life Long Learning, Arts and Culture, as well as M’kariko Amagulu, Deputy Director in the Directorates of Arts, both from the MOEAC.

Change Agent, Bibiana Rubio, Doctor in Social Studies - Colombia

Last May 17, 2019 our partner and Change Agent, Bibiana Rubio Saavedra, got her Doctorade in Social Studies, Childhood and Youth from Universidad de Manizalez - Colombia. We congratulate her for this great achievement and her constant efforts to disseminate the Child Rights. Her thesis deals with: school as experience. Political emotions, moral imagination and citizenships for peace.

Francis Devasya is writing this letter to all change agents:

"I am happy to inform you that my first book was published. It is a travelogue named as ‘Malawi - through the warm heart of Africa’, and of course it is based on my experiences in Malawi during the fourth phase  of the ITP on Child right classroom and school management, organised by SIDA and conducted by Lund University (in batch 14).  

This book is written in my mother tongue Malayalam

A new book from Kerala, India on CRC in Malawi - India-Kerala

Francis Devasya from Kerala, India, participant in batch 14 in the international training program "Child rights, classroom and school management" with a follow-up workshop in Malawi, is writing this on the open online CRC platform. Francis in the middle of the photo

The book was published by the famous Malayalam novelist Vinoy Thomas presenting a copy to Thomas Devasya (Director & award winner of the best childrens film Film 2015) on 12/05/2019 at Pazhassi  Library hall Mananthavady Wayanad Kerala India.

George Joseph, change agent & chairman Sweden Alumni Network India Kerala chapter and some other important personalities of library council were felicitated. Young poet Robins John introduced the book. Neermathalam books in Wayanad District, in Kerala, is the publisher.

Viet Nam: Workshop on CRC in Hanoi - April 9

April 9 there was a successful workshop in Hanoi on Child Rights in Schools in Viet Nam. There were Change Agents in the CRC Network in Hanoi and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) but also many new change agents from different schools in Hanoi. The embassy was there as well as DOET in Hanoi and Unicef in Vietnam.This is a part of a 2 year research project funded by ICLD focusing informal Child Rights social norms in schools. To be finished in the end of 2020 with research articles, teaching material and models to be used in many other countries in Global South whëre ICLD is active.
